History

The Development Economics undergraduate program was established and developed in tandem with the long journey of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Tanjungpura University. This faculty was originally known as the Faculty of Commerce, which was also the first faculty at Tanjungpura University. Following the change in status of the National Power University (UDN) to a state university under the name Pontianak State University (UNEP) in 1963, the Faculty of Commerce was renamed the Faculty of Economics. Shortly thereafter, UNEP changed its name to Dwikora University in the same year, a name that was finally officially renamed Tanjungpura University in 1967, a name that is still used today. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Economics transformed into the Faculty of Economics and Business in 2016.

Since its inception, the Department of Economics and Development Studies has been an integral part of the Faculty of Economics. The term “Study Program” was only officially used in 1996, and at that time, the Department of Economics and Development Studies only had one undergraduate program, namely Development Economics. Further development occurred with the introduction of the Islamic Economics Study Program in 2014.

In carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which includes education and teaching, research and development, and community service, FEB Untan has established a comprehensive organizational management system. The department oversees study programs, practical laboratories, quality units, research units, and the Center for Analysis and Consultation Development (PPAPK). In addition, FEB also has various clusters, such as the library, quality, Community Service Lecture (KKM), and laboratory clusters that serve to support the management of faculty resources. All of these units are supported by a structured administration. With adequate organizational tools, maintained accreditation, and good governance-based management, FEB is committed to realizing its vision in the development of economic science and development.
