




Pontianak, September 18, 2025 – The Department of Economics and Development Studies (IESP) of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Tanjungpura University (UNTAN) once again held its annual “Academic Synergy Between Study Programs” or SAPA IESP event. The event, held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Prof. Syamsyuddin Djahmat Room, involved students from various educational levels, ranging from undergraduate to doctoral programs in Economics.
This year’s SAPA IESP event, which focused on the strategic role of transmigration in equitable development, featured various speakers from academia and practitioners. The event aimed to enrich participants’ knowledge of Indonesia’s population dynamics, transmigration policies, and the utilization of this program to enhance sustainable economic development in West Kalimantan.
Opening Session and Student Presentations
The event began with participant registration, followed by the official opening, which included remarks by the Head of the IESP Department, Mrs. Nurul Bariyah, SE., MSi., P.hD., and a prayer led by Mr. M. Iman Taufik, SE., ME. In the first session, students from various study programs presented their research results, covering topics such as the impact of transmigration on local economic growth, migration patterns of traders, and the potential of the demographic bonus in economic development.
Seminar Session and Keynote Speaker
The seminar session was attended by Dr. Meiran Panggabean, S.E., M.Si., the keynote speaker, who discussed the importance of transmigration in overcoming demographic and economic disparities between regions. In addition, a representative from the West Kalimantan Province Manpower and Transmigration Office, Mr. Irwan Suhandar, S.IP, M.AP, gave a presentation on the implementation of transmigration programs that have successfully created new economic centers and their impact on the welfare of transmigrant communities.
Discussion and Q&A
Each presentation session was followed by an interactive discussion involving participants to explore the material in greater depth. The participants were very enthusiastic, as evidenced by the many questions asked regarding the topic of transmigration and its impact on regional development. This discussion provided a space for students and lecturers to share their perspectives and solutions to the challenges faced in the transmigration program.
Closing and Awards
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates and souvenirs to the speakers and moderators by the Dean of FEB UNTAN, Dr. Barkah, SE., MM. Additionally, the event also included a group photo session to document this important moment. With the success of this SAPA IESP event, it is hoped that it will enrich the knowledge of participants and strengthen the analytical capacity of students in the field of sustainable development.
Participants and Event Objectives
A total of 80 participants attended this event, consisting of lecturers, students from the Faculty of Economics and Business, UNTAN, and the public. This event was expected to provide broader insights into the dynamics of Indonesia’s population and address increasingly complex development challenges, particularly those related to transmigration and regional development equity.

SAPA IESP 2025 is an important forum for the development of knowledge related to population and transmigration policies, while also strengthening the synergy between study programs at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UNTAN. It is hoped that this activity can contribute to the formation of more innovative and sustainable policies in overcoming development inequalities in Indonesia.
